We are excited to NOW be accepting applications for the Summer 2025 semester which starts in early July.
Skip the details and APPLY NOW!
We have a small day training school for our client’s dogs so they can be taught by experts and then transfer the skills back home. Our goal is to help your dog mature or develop into the best possible canine companion.
Before joining the Academy, most dogs need to complete an assessment, which is a 1:1 meeting with a trainer to touch base about goals, meet the dog, see how the dog does when crated, and answer any questions you have. The cost is $45 and is non-refundable. If a dog has boarded with us and worked with us, sometimes we are able to waive the assessment.
Here are some details:
- All dogs must have a completed application submitted for approval
- Dogs come for a three month semester and then can reapply for more training or transition out of PBC Academy
- Morning drop-off is 7:30-9am and evening pick-up is 5-6:30pm.
- We have two tracks for Academy, Intensive and Maintenance. You can choose which one is relevant for your goals. All NEW dogs must attend Intensive the first semester.
- There are a lot more details about our Academy and we are happy to fill you in if you have questions. Contact us now!
The property is 18 acres, it’s all fenced in with 4 foot farm fence (post and welded wire). PBC is in a residential neighborhood with neighbors nearby and it’s close to the road. There are sheep on the farm and the neighbors have horses, sheep and goats. The day training crate room is climate controlled (heat + AC), has an alarm and temperature monitoring system, is under camera surveillance, and is stocked with the best of the best for keeping dogs happy and relaxed. It’s simple, safe and totally designed with canine comfort as the ultimate goal.
We have multiple training environments including:
- large training room
- outside fields of differing sizes
- home-like room for practicing home skills like not counter-surfing, sitting for guests, and more
- two separate office spaces with various tools and set-ups for advanced and basic training
Additionally we have a dock diving pool, access to livestock and many other exciting distractions, an amazing team of trainers and playgroup staff members & more!
Dogs need to be current on rabies, DHPP, Bordetella and have had a recent clean fecal. Lepto and Lyme vaccines are recommended but not required.
Track Details
Intensive Track
In summary, the Intensive track is a highly interactive, engaged twelve week program where we are teaching your dog skills and you are practicing them at home. Feedback is going in both directions. It’s very goal focused and concrete. The Intensive track is for owners that have goals or behaviors they want their dog to have and they are able to commit to creating an environment to help the dog succeed and practice with the dog so the skills transfer over from us to you.
- Weekly video for new skill acquisition with explanation of how we are teaching the skill as well as how we work through problems.
- Weekly homework or written update sent home to owner.
- Weekly video from the owner to the trainer demonstrating practice.
- Weekly email or communication from the owner on how homework is going.
- The option of Drop-in Class.
- Initial meeting or conversation with your trainer to establish rapport, review goals and go over the plan for the semester.
- Midterm and Final Lessons to practice and review skills here, at your house or in the community.
- Email summary, recommendations for the future, and a playlist of all trainer videos.
- Weekly internal review of each dog and their training plan with adjustments being made as needed.
Maintenance Track
The actual daily schedule for dogs on Maintenance won’t be different. All dogs will follow the same basic routine of physical enrichment (playgroup, hike, field trip, etc.), 1:1 time with a trainer practicing what they already know, and practice time with real-life scenarios so the dog gets better and better in real-life situations. Dogs will also have decompression time which could be alone time napping in a crate, working on a feeder toy, going on a quiet “sniffari” style of walk or sitting with staff and having a story read out loud or something equally as soothing and calming.
The change is mostly in the level of interactivity and engagement between owner and trainer, as well as the amount of material we are preparing for you (videos, etc.)
- Weekly video clip or snippet of enrichment, real-life application or play with context explained via voiceover, written blurb or comment on our online platform.
- Email or text updates (back and forth) as needed.
- Drop-In class if you want to come.
- Option of meeting at the end of the semester to review the semester.
- Email summary + playlist of videos.
