First, here are some quick facts about our Board and Train option:

  • Every interaction your dog has with the training team positively supports its continued learning and skill building.
  • Your board and train package includes an owner transition lesson, where we show you everything you need to know to keep things going smoothly at home. You’ll also receive a step-by-step manual that includes command names and descriptions.

We have a small day training school for our client's dogs so they can be taught by experts and then transfer the skills back home. Our goal is to help your dog mature or develop into the best possible canine companion.

Before joining the Academy, most dogs need to complete an assessment, which is a 1:1 meeting with a trainer to touch base about goals, meet the dog, see how the dog does when crated, and answer any questions you have. The cost is $45 and is non-refundable. If a dog has boarded with us and worked with us, sometimes we are able to waive the assessment.

Here are some details:

  • All dogs must have a completed application submitted for approval
  • Semesters are 12 weeks long in duration but we are flexible about setting it up to best meet your dog's goals
  • We have three tracks for Academy, Intensive and Maintenance. You can choose which one is relevant for your goals. All NEW dogs must attend Intensive the first semester.
  • There are a lot more details about our Academy and we are happy to fill you in if you have questions. Contact us now!

The property is 18 acres, it's all fenced in with 4 foot farm fence (post and welded wire). PBC is in a residential neighborhood with neighbors nearby and it's close to the road. There are sheep on the farm and the neighbors have horses, sheep and goats. The day training crate room is climate controlled (heat + AC), has an alarm and temperature monitoring system, is under camera surveillance, and is stocked with the best of the best for keeping dogs happy and relaxed. It's simple, safe and totally designed with canine comfort as the ultimate goal.

We have multiple training environments including:

  • large training room
  • outside fields of differing sizes
  • home-like room for practicing home skills like not counter-surfing, sitting for guests, and more
  • two separate office spaces with various tools and set-ups for advanced and basic training

Additionally we have a dock diving pool, access to livestock and many other exciting distractions, an amazing team of trainers and playgroup staff members & more!

Dogs need to be current on rabies, DHPP, Bordetella and have had a recent clean fecal. Lepto and Lyme vaccines are recommended but not required.

Track Details

Intensive Track

In summary, the Intensive track is a highly interactive, engaged program where we are teaching your dog skills and you are practicing them at home. Feedback is going in both directions. It's very goal focused and concrete. The Intensive track is for owners that have goals or behaviors they want their dog to have and they are able to commit to creating an environment to help the dog succeed and practice with the dog so the skills transfer over from us to you.

  • Weekly video for new skill acquisition with explanation of how we are teaching the skill as well as how we work through problems.
  • Weekly homework or written update sent home to owner.
  • Weekly video from the owner to the trainer demonstrating practice.
  • Weekly email or communication from the owner on how homework is going.
  • The option of Drop-in Class.
  • Initial meeting or conversation with your trainer to establish rapport, review goals and go over the plan for the semester.
  • Midterm and Final Lessons to practice and review skills here, at your house or in the community.
  • Email summary, recommendations for the future, and a playlist of all trainer videos.
  • Weekly internal review of each dog and their training plan with adjustments being made as needed.

Maintenance Track

The actual daily schedule for dogs on Maintenance won't be different. All dogs will follow the same basic routine of physical enrichment (playgroup, hike, field trip, etc.), 1:1 time with a trainer practicing what they already know, and practice time with real-life scenarios so the dog gets better and better in real-life situations. Dogs will also have decompression time which could be alone time napping in a crate, working on a feeder toy, going on a quiet "sniffari" style of walk or sitting with staff and having a story read out loud or something equally as soothing and calming.

The change is mostly in the level of interactivity and engagement between owner and trainer, as well as the amount of material we are preparing for you (videos, etc.)

  • Weekly video clip or snippet of enrichment, real-life application or play with context explained via voiceover, written blurb or comment on our online platform.
  • Email or text updates (back and forth) as needed.
  • Drop-In class if you want to come.
  • Option of meeting at the end of the semester to review the semester.
  • Email summary + playlist of videos.

Apply for the Academy

PBC boards a very small number of client dogs that have ongoing relationships with us and are unable to board in other places.

Our boarding is staffed by our trainers and is extremely structured with an emphasis on behavioral wellness and training/behavior modification.

Some guidelines for boarding here are:

  • the dog has an ongoing relationship with us (come here regularly for day training or lessons)
  • the dog requires 1:1, highly structured or supervised care. For example, a dog who is quite friendly but will eat anything they find, a dog that is not safe around other dogs, a dog that has specific handling issues, a dog with compulsive issues, etc.
  • the dog is comfortable being confined to a crate or kennel without barking or distress (our boarders are confined when not supervised and overnight)
  • Reservations must be a minimum of 3 nights
  • Reservations must be made a minimum of two weeks in advance (further in advance during holiday seasons)
  • Reservations are non-refundable
  • Boarding rates start at $125/night and go up to $255/night (for B&T)

We also accept dogs for Board & Train on a case-by-case basis.

Full Price List for Boarding Services

Note: We are on a boarding hiatus for Fall 2025, planning to resume over the holidays for current clients.

Boarding is charged by night, regardless of check-in and check-out times. All reservations must be PAID IN FULL to be confirmed. Boarding is fully refundable up until 72 hours* prior to start, at which point it is forfeited.
*Peak season dates may differ, please refer to the most current boarding agreement, located in your Gingr profile, for details.

Level 1

$75/night
This means your dog is good with all dogs, all the time, all the staff and all the things in the environment. Manners aside, your dog isn’t going to swallow a whole squirrel, dig out and run loose or hurt anyone. Easy peasy! We enforce all manners and structure. Your dog is with the group and will, be default be able to spend the most time out.

Level 2

$100/night
This means your dog is like most dogs. Probably gets along with some dogs, is ok with staff but might have some quirks, and so on. It also means that you have a L1 dog but you want some training added.

Level 3

$125/night
This means your dog is 1:1 with staff. Your dog will be with staff ONLY. No dogs. The only exception is if they come with a housemate and they get along. 1:1 dogs fight with other dogs, need to be closely supervised by staff, may have self-injurious habits like eating rocks or fabric, and so on. 1:1 does not include training, it’s just very strict management and supervision.

Grooming

  • Freshen up with dry shampoo: $40
  • Nail trim: $30

For all dogs boarding at PBC, we need to verify current rabies, distemper, parvovirus, Bordetella and a recent report affirming a clean fecal.

Note: We are currently ONLY accepting reservations for current PBC clients. At this time we are not accepting new clients who we don’t have a pre-existing training relationship with. Thank you for understanding!
